When I boot to Recovery Console it looks 'normal' to me.
All I can do now is wish you all the best. If you boot the computer from a Knoppix Cd, does all the hardware perform properly? ...... Restarted installation and it took over night to complete, but now I have all applications back and working great. This will only work when both installation CDs are retail, not OEM. To anyone reading this, DO NOT DELETE MACHINE.INF. Hope this helps folks.
