Reply Nvargas July 6, 2012 at 4:23 pm # It wont let me do anything it just freezes showing windows explorer stopped working Reply ghjk July 15, 2012 at 1:42 pm I can ignore it when working in the Command Prompt (unless I try to access something that requires Windows Explorer to open it, like the control panel, or the registry editor). Inserting your OS installation disc and booting off the disc cannot fix the problem.
It can also be that you are only experiencing the issue when opening a specific folder or drive in Windows Explorer.Try to locate the corrupt file and move it or delete Set this to No and your problems are solved.Hope this helps someone! I have just purchased a new Asus M51VR notebook with Vista Home Premium SP1 pre-installed & all Windows updates downloaded. Or is it a simple Vista glitch with the explorer shell?

I recommend searching for info before doing the uninstall...it is discussed on the MS user forum answers site. I could not believe that was the problem. A drop down window will pop up. plugins or shell scripts might do that.To eliminate that possibility we need to disable all third party services and programs. I've been experiencing this problem too, Windows Explorer has stopped working.
However, there is a way to almost instantly change the size of icons on your screen if you are using Vista or Windows 7.
