This is exceedingly rare on Windows XP when compared to any earlier version of Windows but, on some machines, especially if no BIOS upgrade is available, there seems no conclusion to SHUTDOWN WORKS, BUT IT’S REAL SLOW If it appears that Win XP is not shutting down, give it some time. If his Samsung CD-ROM drive is empty, Win XP hangs on shutdown. It can be done though.
