Also, please forgive me if the answer is somewhere here on the website, I have been dealing with this computer for nearly a month and am a little worn out on Not to be put off, I proceeded to the next step, trying to find any restore points, but unfortunately there were no files rp1, rp2 etc.

I have checked with bootlog and discovered that the last driver loaded in the safe mode (before the system crashes) is fastfat.sys. We used the Puppy Linux method of looking at the hard drive that I learned from Gringo_PR on these forums, and my son could look at the config folder. It now almost works ! Still couldn't boot into Safe Mode.
