Without the specific information that Terry requested, this is about as generic an answer as you can really get. Instead, I record in the editing view. With the above combination i could likewise import instantly a WMV video with audio intact of course. If VLC can't play it there, then there probably is no audio in the file or the "audio" is nothing more than silence placed there deliberately or through incompetence.
